Philosophy Statement: The Social Studies Department of TLS recognizes that God created us in His image (Genesis 1), we value relationships just like God. A divine perspective and Christian world view are presented in social studies. Students will develop an understanding of the past, present, and the future of our society and the society of others.

 The Fifth grade will develop their understanding of social studies concepts and cause-and­ effect relationships to study the development of the United States, beginning with European Exploration, to Colonial America, and finishing up with the American Revolution.

 The sixth grade will focus on Ancient Civilizations  and  on how geography  influenced  settlement, the need  for and role of government in society, the development of economic systems, how culture impacts society, and how things change over time.

 The seventh grade will investigate the impacts of conflicts, the role of leadership decisions, the development and role of government, throughout United States in the 1800 and 1900s.

 Eighth grade will be focusing their time on World Geography which emphasizes the interaction of humans and their physical and cultural environments.
